Pilot Point’s next chapter could include roughly 2,000 homes connected by parks, trails and places to shop. Lantern, a planned Hillwood community, offers an early look at how a large stretch of land might become part of everyday neighborhood life.

Hillwood acquired the 618-acre property in July 2026. Its current outline combines homes with apartments and retail, plus outdoor spaces that could give future neighbors places to meet beyond their own front doors. A possible on-site elementary school is also under consideration.

The project remains a future community, with construction not expected to begin immediately. That timing gives agents and residents a chance to get familiar with the plan before sales releases and move-in dates become the conversation.

For an agent helping clients explore northern Denton County, Lantern belongs on the watch list. Future builder announcements, the mix of housing and the sequence of development will make the picture more useful.

A land purchase can be easy to miss. This one is worth remembering as Pilot Point’s next neighborhoods take shape.
