A home upstairs, a restaurant nearby and more neighbors on the sidewalk: Arlington’s plan for the land near Abram and Mesquite streets could bring a new daily rhythm to downtown.
An approved agreement with Trammell Crow Company calls for at least 390 market-rate homes, restaurant and retail space, and a new Water Utilities office. The developer must invest at least $123 million.
The public side is substantial, too. Approximately $38.4 million in city and tax-increment-zone participation is tied to the project, including public facilities and infrastructure. Plans also provide free public parking.
For downtown businesses, the prospect of more neighbors within walking distance is worth watching. For agents, this is a useful project to know when clients ask how central Arlington could change.
The agreement sets September 2027 as the construction-start deadline and September 2031 for completion. The next chapter will unfold through construction milestones. For now, it gives Arlington a concrete vision of a downtown with more places to live, meet and spend an evening.
